About atlas

The fauna of invertebrates of the Barents sea includes more than 3 thousand species of free-living invertebrates. This Atlas does not cover the whole diversity of benthic invertebrates in this region, and describes only a small part of the large-scale, often fall in the catches of bottom trawls, the so – called "megabenthos". Category megabenthic organisms typically include benthic invertebrate animals weighing more than 5 grams, or larger than 1 centimeter. Animals in this category because of the large size of most other benthic organisms fall into catches of bottom trawls, which their settlements are most vulnerable to trawl impacts. This determiner is designed to give the reader a General idea of megabenthos the Barents sea and its main groups.
